Rocks were thrown over the weekend for the 67th annual Men’s Marine Bonspiel hosted by the Prince Rupert Curling Club.
Twenty-six teams, including eight who travelled from Terrace, participated in the event from March 9-11, when teams renewed rivalries and battled for a year’s worth of bragging rights. Danny Dawson, the event’s organizer, said the bonspiel went well, adding that he appreciates the support the club receives from both the local teams and the teams that travel to Prince Rupert.

“When rinks travel to tournaments that are outside of their towns it supports the club so much,” Dawson said. “I can’t thank the out-of-town rinks enough.”
The A-event was won by the John Evans rink from Terrace, which consisted of Evans, Jordan Johnson, Kore Melanson and Gordie Olson.
“We have a couple of young guys who can throw big weight with good accuracy,” he said. “That was the key to the success we had this year.”
As his team received their plaques, Evans made a point to mention how much the Terrace contingent enjoys making the trip to Prince Rupert for the tournament.
“It’s always a great event,” he said. “We can’t thank the club and the volunteers, who put it on, enough.”
