Cold and windy weather did not stop the 33 youths who went up to Shames Mountain ski hill Feb. 27 to compete in the Shames Mountain Grind Off.
The slopestyle event was for children 18 and under, and contestants were awarded medals and prizes.
Two first place winners, Jared Thornton for men's 12 and under ski, and David Klie for men's 12-15 snowboard, each won a one-year contract with Ruins Board Shop to be sponsored on their ski and snowboard team.
Both Thornton and Klie are also members of Shames Mountain's freestyle ski and snowboard club.
