The first road bicycle race of the season kicks off this Sunday morning, May 22, at 10:00 a.m. from Highway 37 and Krumm Rd. Recreational riders will start half an hour later from the Onion Lake parking area.

The race will finish at the Kitimat Visitors Information Centre just up the hill from Hirsch Creek Bridge.

This race is hosted by the Terrace Off Road Cycling Association (TORCA).

Several local riders always attend this event and the race also attracts cycling enthusiasts from out of town.

Safety is always a great concern at these events since cyclists share the highway with motorists during the race.

TORCA asks everyone to be aware of the signs indicating a race is taking place and to slow down when passing riders.

It is extremely important to refrain from passing other vehicles cyclists are approaching in the oncoming lane.
