Rudy Deering,

Aged 79, a long time resident of West Vancouver died peacefully April 15th, 2009 in Lion’s Gate Hospital in North Vancouver.

Early in his life he moved with his parents from Manitoba to Nanaimo and then to West Vancouver. Rudy loved the outdoors and sports. In his younger years he was active in the retriever field trial arena. He was a life-long golfer, hunter, fisherman, horseman and boater. He had a successful career as owner of Friell Lake Logging, a prime contractor for Skeena Sawmills in Terrace.

He loved to travel, dance and sing. His greatest enjoyments were always those which included his family members.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan and by one son Michael Deering of Bowen Island and 3 daughters; Gwenda Elwood of Vancouver, Leigh Deering of California and Shelly Plommer of Langley; a brother Robert Deering of West Vancouver and a sister Magdalena Spitz of North Vancouver, also seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
