With sadness, the Locke Family announces the passing of their patriarch Sam. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Sam was born in Guangdong, China, an area just north of Hong Kong. He arrived in Vancouver in 1952 and sailed back to Hong Kong in 1963 to marry his loving wife of 56 years, Susie. He began working at Gim's Restaurant and then opened his own restaurant (Chop Suey Garden) from 1977 until their retirement in 2009. Sam enjoyed being a restauranteur. He loved cooking for his family and for others. Sam was happiest when he was surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his wife Susie, their five children Gina, Leona, Tina, Verna, William and six grandchildren.
