Michael John Hart was born January 23, 1956 in Dorking, England. Michael passed away June 30, 2017 in Phuket, Thailand.
Michael came to Canada in 1958 with his parents Cyril and Nancy Hart and his sister Caroline. They spent time in Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa before moving to Terrace in 1971. Mike's sister Catherine was born in Calgary and brother Mark was born in Edmonton.
Mike graduated from Caledonia Senior Secondary in 1973. He then started his studies as a heavy duty mechanic, where he went on to work for John Williams and then onto Finning. Mike's love of adventure coupled with his career took him around the world where he worked in many countries, Brazil, South America, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Mexico to name a few. Thirteen years ago Mike settled in Thailand and made Phuket his home.
Those who knew Mike growing up know he was always the life of the party, from his van called the "shaggin wagon" to his nickname "Fart" and way too many escapades with all his buds in Terrace and around the world. Of course there was his other passion, his Harley Davidson, with which he won awards with his custom paint work and was always big on supporting the local Toy Runs.
Mike left Terrace in the early 90's for Chilliwack with his wife and two daughters Dana and Stacey. From there they moved onto Cranbrook (where his daughters and grandchildren still reside).
Mike returned to Canada various times after he settled in Thailand, mainly for family events. In 2016 he came home to Terrace and Smithers to see his friends and family, he followed his heart back to Thailand where the love of his life Leela was patiently waiting.
Mike passed away with Leela by his side, as per Thai tradition Mike was cremated on July 5 and his ashes were scattered on the ocean.
