In loving memory ~
Kenneth Allan Sundberg, born in New Westminster, BC, lived in Duncan on Vancouver Island before moving to Terrace in 1951 with his parents, Helge and Clara. He made Terrace his home for most of his life.
A Heavy Duty Mechanic by trade, Ken worked primarily in the Forest Industry.
Ken and his wife Becky moved to a house on Lakelse Lake in 1994, where they spent almost the next 30 years. Ken loved outdoor recreation like hiking and canoeing and taking trips in their motor home. In the early 1970's, he snowmobiled through the Telkwa Pass with friends. He loved ice skating and the times that Lakelse Lake froze as smooth as glass, he would skate the length of the lake by moonlight under the stars on dark winter nights. As a hobby, he crafted many items from wood, leaving his family with hand hewn and lathe-made items to remember him by.
Although he battled dementia in his last years, he found rest at Kiwanis Pavillion in Victoria where he could be close to his son and his family.
Ken was predeceased by his parents Helge and Clara Sundberg and his best friend of almost 70 years, Dale Nunn. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years Rebecca (Becky) and their three children: oldest daughter Shelagh (Bud), with whom they were reunited through the Adoption Registry in 1996, and the children they raised, son Aaron (Carling), and daughter Kiera (Jake). He also leaves behind three grandchildren Leanne, Glen, and Sophia, and one great-grandchild Alaina.
In honouring Ken's wishes, there will be no service, but donations in his memory can be made to: Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion Foundation, 3034 Cedar Hill Road, Victoria, BC V8T 3J3 or to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation, 885 Dunsmuir St., Suite #200, Vancouver, BC V6C 1N5
