October 23, 1934 - January 22, 2021
In Loving Memory of Herb Quast ~ Herb passed away peacefully January 22, 2021. Born October 23, 1934 in Vegreville Albert, Herb is the eldest of six born to Ida and Otto Quast. The family moved to Prince Rupert where Herb spent his teenage years growing up.
fter graduation Herb moved to Houston where he started his career with the BC Forest Service. Herb had the opportunity to work in a variety of locations including Prince Rupert, Smithers, Ocean Falls, Hazelton and finally landing in Terrace where he finished his career as Operations Manager. Herb was proud of his career and enjoyed being a role model and mentor for many young people.
Herb's love of the outdoors led to many adventures with friends and family. ATV'ing, camping, hunting, snowmobiling, fishing and boating on the Skeena River. Herb also spent many years racing stock cars at the Terrace Speedway.
Herb enjoyed organizing activities and spending time with family (always with camera in hand). Annual Christmas tree hunts became the highlight of the year with the family increasing in numbers as grandchildren arrived. His grandchildren were a huge part of his life. He spent many hours at Christy Park, the baseball diamonds, and in the stands at the arena cheering them on.
As the grandchildren grew older Herb was proud to teach and share with them what he enjoyed in life such as target shooting, fishing trips on the Skeena River and ATV outings.
Herb developed many lifelong friendships which included solving the world's problems with the A&W coffee crew.
Herb is loved forever by his daughters Laura Jobb (Trevor), Cheryl Tooms (Roger), Leslie Pocock (Larry), grandchildren Amber (Jeff), Kaali (Cameron), Tyler (Chrissy), David (Frances), Kara, Kristen (Connor), and Dylan (Nick), along with eleven great grandchildren and many more family and friends.
