Eugene Edward Rafuse

May 24, 1953 - December 29, 2018
Gene was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on May 24, 1953. As a young man, he travelled north to Terrace to attend Northwest Community College, arriving to six feet of snow. Luckily the weather didn't deter him from staying, as it wasn't long before he met Trudy Hamer. They married on September 11, 1976, and raised two children. During many of those years, Gene worked as a mechanic. In his early fifties, he went back to

school and became a butcher.

In his spare time, Gene was always keeping busy. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and co-managing the farm with Trudy north of Terrace. Gene especially cherished his time with his five

grandchildren, always looking forward to their annual summer visit.

Gene will be remembered for his generosity. He was always there to lend a hand to his family and friends. He'll also be remembered for his quick laugh and affectionate ribbing, his love of coffee (ten cups a day!) and of course, his signature moustache. He will be missed.

Gene is remembered by his wife Trudy, his son Quinton (Karin); his daughter Brandy; his grandchildren Sydney, Addison, Kiera, Julius and Sebastien; his brother Bill (Rebecca) and family; along with the extended Hamer family. Gene was predeceased by his parents and brother.

A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Terrace's Mills Memorial Hospital and Vancouver General Hospital who cared for Gene.

Gene's family invites friends to gather to remember him on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 2 pm in the Terrace Sportsplex Banquet Room, 3320 Kalum Street, Terrace BC.
