In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that the family of Don Apolczer, announces his passing. Don was born in Creston, B.C. to Phyllis and John Apolczer. He moved to Terrace with his parents and sister in 1951. He spent most of his life in the logging and construction industries. He drove logging trucks in the Terrace area, on Haida Gwaii and Vancouver Island. Don had a very strong work ethic.
When Don was not working he could be found each morning at Denny's which he referred to as his office. He sat on his favourite stool at the counter enjoying his coffee and socializing. He would buy lotto tickets every week hoping to win the big one and he never did.
Both Don and Lynne loved to travel. They travelled to Arizona, Florida California, the Bahamas, Costa Rica and Mexico and went on a Caribbean cruise. Don particularly like Hawaii, especially the Big Island.
He was very meticulous when it came most things, especially his yard. He was often seen mowing his neighbour's lawns and snow blowing their driveways. He loved to decorate the house at Christmas both inside and outside. Although, he had a gruff exterior and had been called Grandpa and Uncle Grouch, he really was a big softy.
Don is survived by his wife Lynne of 60 years, his son Brett (Marlene) daughter Rae-Ann (Kevin) and grandchildren Kyle Apolczer, Jared Apolczer Kyrie Thomson, Paige Chapdelaine, Logan Chapdelaine, and Kamryn Winiski, his sister Carlotta Jordan, his niece Carita Weathersby, father-in-law Ed McFadden, brother-in-law Dale McFadden (Gail) and nephew Ryan McFadden.
He was predeceased by his father John Apolczer, mother Phyllis Apolczer and motherinlaw, Nellie McFadden.
We love you lots and will miss you forever.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
