Warrant issued for arrest

Woman has been evading Terrace RCMP for nearly two months

POLICE say they now need the public’s help in locating a woman that’s been evading them for nearly two months.

Sophia Mercer was ordered to appear in court earlier this fall so that an existing sentence for assault causing bodily harm could be reviewed to determine if she breached probation conditions.

That sentence was non-custodial and was for six months, but Mercer failed to appear and a warrant was issued Oct. 1.

We have exhausted our efforts to locate her and now need the public’s assistance,” said Terrace RCMP Constable Angela Rabut.

Mercer is 36-years-old and is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 221 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and has a two-inch scar on her upper right arm.

If you have information about her current location, contact the Terrace RCMP at 250-638-7400 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers by telephone at 1-800-222-TIPS, online at or by texting TERRACE plus your message to 274637 (CRIMES).

If your information leads to an arrest, you may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
