Terrace saw its second-snowiest November day since 2013 yesterday, and the most snowfall on a Nov. 17 since data started being recorded in 1953.
Environment Canada measurements at the Northwest Regional Airport indicated that 38 centimetres of snow fell on Nov. 17 this year — over three quarters of all snowfall during the month so far. The fastest wind gust of the day was clocked at 42 kilometres per hour.
A low pressure system moved up the coast of B.C. yesterday, prompting a winter storm warning from Environment Canada and had City of Terrace crews working to clear streets of snow.
The most snowfall on a November day in Terrace was Nov. 18, 2017, when there was 57.6 centimetres of snowfall. That storm forced an overnight closure of Highway 16 between Terrace and Prince Rupert.
