Train cars go off track east of Terrace

No injuries suffered and repairs are underway, says CN

CN CREWS are today clearing a derailment that took place early this morning on the company's main line east of Terrace.

Five cars went off the track but remained upright, reports CN official Emily Hamer of the accident which took place at 1:45 a.m. near Cedarvale.

"There were no injuries and no environmental issues and no danger," said Hamer.

The cars were carrying household consumer goods that had been unloaded at the port in Prince Rupert.

Traffic has been temporarily halted while repairs are underway, said Hamer.

"The cars did not fall on their sides but they did come off the track," she said of the incident which is under investigation.

Residents of the area reported hearing a loud crash at the time of the derailment.
