A local group is hosting its inaugural Pride Prom, an evening dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ identities in Terrace, on June 10.

Terrace Pride Pals, which is organizing the event, promise a night of dancing, singing and the chance to make new friends in a safe and inclusive environment. They have specified on Facebook that the event is designed for those who are 19-years-old and over.

This news comes just a week after Kitimat hosted its second-ever Pride Prom at the Riverlodge Community Centre on June 3. The event in Kitimat included a dinner, dance, door prizes and a panel discussion featuring local speakers who shared their experiences and insights.

Both events are part of a broader movement to promote inclusivity and to celebrate diversity. With these Pride Proms, Terrace and Kitimat join many communities around the world in recognizing the contributions and culture of their LGBTQ+ residents.

Terrace’s Pride Prom is June 10 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Sherwood Mountain Brewhouse, located at 4816 BC-16. Details are available on the Terrace Pride Pals Facebook page.
