Today the City of Terrace issued water sprinkling restrictions in light of the ongoing heatwave.
According to the city, these measures are to maintain water supply levels, and to ensure enough water is available for firefighting.
Watering is now only permitted from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on your watering day, which is determined by house address.
Odd numbered addresses can water on only odd numbered days, while even numbered addresses can water on even numbered days.
Spraying flowers and shrubbery however is permitted at any time, so long as it is done by hand with a controlled nozzle.Public Works said that a fine could be issued if people are found to be breaking the water restriction.
"Generally we send a letter first after we've received a complaint," a Public Works employee said. However, if the violation continues, a fine can be issued for an amount anywhere between $100-$500 under the Terrace Water Distribution and Sale Bylaw.
