The Terrace Curling Association is need of a new roof, and the group received a resolution of support from the city on Feb. 14.

The club has applied for a Northern Development Initiative Trust (NDIT) grant totalling $100,000.

In his presentation to council, the club’s Roger L’Heureux said that the roof dates back to around 1972 and had some work done to seal coat the roof in 2006.

“It’s done us well but it is starting to leak on a few of the sheets, so we don’t like to have a bucket on the ice when you are trying to curl,” L’Heureux told council.

In total, the cost of the roof is estimated to be just under $200,000, and the curling association is looking to cover the difference with other grant funding sources, with the possibility of taking out a loan if needed.
