The City of Terrace has announced details of a public open house regarding the Progressive Ventures inland port development.

The open house will take place at the Days Inn meeting room on Wednesday, Nov. 25 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., and from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will also be an online open house available from Wednesday, Nov. 18 to Wednesday Dec. 2.

More information can be found at the city’s dedicated webpage for the inland port. The page can be found at www.terrace.ca/proposed-inland-port

City officials said earlier this year that holding a public open house is necessary due to significant public interest in the proposed development. The open house will provide the public a chance to learn more about the proposed development and it will provide an opportunity for the public to give feedback.

Once the open house is complete, the City will gather all feedback received about the project during the open house and during the months prior and present that feedback to city council at a public hearing (tentatively set for Dec. 8).

After the public hearing, council will then vote on third reading of proposed amendments to the city’s official community plan related to the proposed development.

The inland port project is a proposed development that would see a train container loading facility built on the northern portion of the former Skeena Cellulose mill site in Terrace (just west of the Sande Overpass) and a row of commercial or light industrial properties along Keith Ave. at the southern edge of the former mill site.
