Terrace and area property assessments remain unchanged

Assessed values used as foundation for municipal property taxes

TERRACE and area average residential assessment values remain unchanged, indicates information released today from the B.C. Assessment Authority.

The $309,000 value for both 2016 and 2017 is in contrast to Kitimat where there was an average 4.69 per cent drop from $290,000 in 2016 to $270,000 for this year.

Prince Rupert average assessments went up 6.29 per cent from $244,000 to $260,000.

Port Edward homeowners experienced a jump of nearly 15 per cent, from $189,000 to $222,000.

The assessment authority did note that values continued to decrease in Kitimat beyond the valuation date which was July 1, 2016.

The assessed values provides the foundation for local and provincial taxing authorities.
