Students choose New Democrat Cullen

CALEDONIA Senior Secondary students last week mirrored the results of the May 2 federal election when it came to choosing the next Member of Parliament for Skeena - Bulkley Valley.

CALEDONIA Senior Secondary students last week mirrored the results of the May 2 federal election when it came to choosing the next Member of Parliament for Skeena - Bulkley Valley.

In a mock election, students chose incumbent New Democrat Nathan Cullen who received 55 per cent of the vote or 88 votes out of 159 cast.

But unlike the real results, students did choose Roger Benham of the Green party as the second place finisher with  29 votes, 18 per cent of the vote.

Clay Harmon from the Conservative party came third with 20 votes, 13 per cent.

Last minute Liberal candidate Kyle Warwick took 11 votes for seven per cent of the total.

Christian Heritage Party candidate Rod Taylor received eight votes, or 5 per cent, and Maggie Braun of the Canadian Action Party received two votes.

Only one ballot was spoiled.
