Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Terrace, the Nass Valley and Stewart tonight.

Heavy snowfall can be expected in Stewart, Laxgalts’ap, Gitwinksihlkw, Gitlaxt’aamiks and Rosswood.

In a Dec. 3 alert, the weather agency said that with 10 cm of snowfall tonight, coupled with snow already on the ground, there could be a total of 15 to 20 cm of snow.

“Localized heavy snow under an unstable airmass has given near 10 cm of snow to some localities today. A further 10 cm of snow is forecast for the listed regions tonight before the snow tapers to a few flurries Saturday morning,” said Environment Canada.

Travel to some locations can be difficult due to the rapidly accumulating snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate.
