Skeena Diversity Society will host an online forum to launch the Greater Terrace Local Immigration Partnership (GTLIP) on March 30.

Funded by Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada, GTLIP is aimed at improving service delivery for new immigrants coming to Terrace.

GTLIP is a voluntary network of organizations with participants from the City of Terrace, Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, Coast Mountain College, Skeena Diversity Society, Kermode Friendship Society, Terrace & District Chamber of Commerce, Northwest Training/Work BC, Terrace Public Library and Volunteer Terrace.

The launch event will showcase a short film where newcomers living in Terrace speak about their successes and challenges on the path to permanent residency in Canada, Saša Loggin, executive director of Skeena Diversity Society said.

“We will then share the vision of this partnership and our unique approach to collaborate on the delivery of existing services to support newcomers,” Loggin said, adding that members from other established local immigration partnerships across B.C. will also be invited to speak at the inaugural forum.

Meanwhile, GTLIP is also inviting other interested organizations to join the cause.

“It takes a whole community to effectively support newcomers to realize their full potential. Our membership criteria specifically encourages participation from other levels of government, service providers, businesses and all sectors which share our vision of a welcoming and inclusive community which celebrates, respects and values diversity,” Loggin said in a statement.

The online forum will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday and the public can register to attend on Skeena Diversity Society’s website (
