THE LIGHTS are back on in Terrace.
Power was restored to about 742 people at about 11:25 a.m. this morning after an outage of about two hours in the downtown west of Kenney St., north of Haugland, east of Kofoed Dr., and south of Scott Ave, according to BC Hydro.
A tree was blown down by the high winds onto power lines near the Kalum substation according to work crews, who reported that the problem was up on the bench, said BC Hydro spokesperson Dave Mosure.
"You had your first really good windstorm of the year," he said, adding that with any luck all the weak trees have shown themselves and won't cause any more power outages.
The BC Hydro crews who do maintenance to remove weak trees attempt to get every one but there are weak trees that pop up from time to time, said Mosure.
Environment Canada's forecast for today indicated winds of about 50 km/h that could gust up to 70 km/h.
