Open fire ban in City of Terrace, B.C.

Campfires are allowed but only if they are 0.5 metres squared rather than 1.0 metre squared

No open fires are allowed within the city boundaries, as announced by the City of Terrace today, Aug. 18.

"Until further notice there will be a ban on all open fires, except for campfires, within the boundaries of the City of Terrace. This is in support of the Province setting a fire ban in our area due to the hot, dry weather we have been experiencing the last few weeks," reads the city announcement.

"While campfires are still allowed, there has been a change to the size of a campfire from 1 metre by 1 metre down to 0.5 metres by 0.5 metres. Campfires must be attended to at all times by an adult and must be extinguished completely (cold to the touch) before you leave the area."

If you see an unattended campfire with-in the City of Terrace limits, call 9-1-1 and report the fire.
