The Terrace RCMP detachment is refuting a report officers received last week of an assault on a child in a wooded area near the Ecole Mountainview French immersion school located on the Bench.
“The evidence obtained does not reflect what was reported to the police,” a brief statement from the detachment released March 7 indicated.
Officers, along with the school and School District 82, began an investigation after receiving the report.
It alleged an assault took place on a child near the school during the noon hour break on Feb. 29.
At the time of the report, police said there were no suspects and asked anyone with information to contact the detachment.
“We wish to inform the public that there is no public safety concern in relation to this report,” the March 7 release added.
