SPECULATION IS growing that Skeena Bulkley – Valley New Democrat MP Nathan Cullen is going to run for the leadership of his party.

SPECULATION IS growing that Skeena Bulkley – Valley New Democrat MP Nathan Cullen is going to run for the leadership of his party.

An email advisory sent out early this afternoon to media outlets says Cullen will be making an announcement tomorrow in Vancouver.

The advisory is in both French and English.

Cullen has been mulling entering the leadership race, made necessary to replace Jack Layton who died Aug. 22, for about a month.

Cullen has said he needed the time to determine if he had a national support base sufficient to mount a campaign.

And he has been working on building his fluency in French.

At least two northwest events have already been held by supporters to not only convince him to run, but to raise money for a campaign.

The leadership race culminates in a convention next spring.

A candidate needs $15,000 to enter the race and cannot spend more than $500,000 during the course of the campaign.

Cullen's announcement is to take place at a Simon Fraser University building in downtown Vancouver.

Cullen has won four federal elections as the region's MP.
