A drive-by shooting incident on Thursday night (May 12) left one man suffering gunshot wounds on the 2500 block of Pear Street.

The man’s wounds were non-life threatening and he was taken to hospital for treatment, RCMP said May 13 in a release.

The shooting took place at 11:30 p.m. with RCMP saying an altercation took place earlier in front of the Terrace Inn Liquor Store which is adjacent to the 7-11 on Keith Ave. between 7 and 8 p.m., said the police.

RCMP Constable Kelly Cates said police believe the people involved in the altercation are the same people involved in the shooting.

RCMP also believe the shooting to be targeted and have said there is no risk to the public in relation to this event. The RCMP are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the altercation in front of the liquor store.

In addition, the police are also asking that anyone with video surveillance in the neighbouring streets around Pear Street to call police as suspect vehicles may have been driving in that area between 11:00 pm and midnight on May 12.

Anyone with information can contact Terrace RCMP at 250-638-7400 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-TIPS.
