A Terrace man with an extensive criminal record is in custody pending a court appearance after being charged with numerous property crime offences occurring over three separate days earlier this month.

The charge sheet against Aurelle Poole, born in 1984, includes three counts of break and enter, three counts of theft with one being cash of more than $5,000 and one count of mischief, that being breaking glass and damaging property connected to properties in Thornhill and Terrace.

He’s also charged with uttering threats against an RCMP officer.

An RCMP officer swore out information on March 15 regarding incidents of March 5, March 8 and March 9.

Poole made a court appearance March 15 and is being kept in custody at the Prince George Regional Correctional Centre until his next appearance on March 29.

The information available through court records traces Poole’s involvement with the criminal justice system back to 2004, again in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and in 2014.

One finding of guilty for break and enter with the intent to commit a theft drew a 30-day sentence and probation of one year while a second finding of guilty for assault with a weapon resulted in a sentence of 60 days and probation of one year along with a victim surcharge of $100.

Court records show no appearances from 2014 until the charges filed this month.

Terrace RCMP officers have been updating files and information to then provide documentation sooner to Crown prosecutors in presenting a more complete picture when asking that accused persons are kept in custody.

That was not strictly the case with Poole, but information officers did provide was critical in his being detained, said Staff Sergeant Terry Gillespie, the acting officer in charge of the Terrace RCMP detachment.
