Approximately 88 km of Highway 37 will be resurfaced, from 45 km north of Dease Lake to just south of Good Hope Lake, the transportation ministry announced today.

Some sections of the highway will be reconstructed to strengthen the road base prior to resurfacing.

White Bear Industries Ltd. of Terrace is the successful bidder at $4.3 million.

Work is to start late June and last until the end of August.

Highway 37 was constructed in the 1960s and early 1970s and was completely hard-surfaced in 2009.

Improvements made by 2008 mean trucks can use the highway at legal axle loading year round.
