Kitsumkalum First Nation has launched a fundraiser for a family of three whose house was destroyed by fire on Oct. 31.

Thornhill and Terrace fire departments responded to a fire call at approximately 11:30 p.m. Two of the residents were not at home and the third resident, community elder Alex Bolton, was able to safely exit the house.

According to a Nov. 3 Kitsumkalum Facebook post, the house was not insured and the family has lost everything. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The Facebook post credited Michael Munroe, Brady Conlon, Jolene Conlon and Carole Sam, as well as the Terrace and Thornhill fire departments for their response to the incident.

Monetary and gift card donations can be dropped off at the Kitsumkalum Health Centre, or people can email transfer money directly to the family at emergencysupport@kitsumkalum.com. Due to COVID-19 precautions, the Kitsumkalum Health Centre cannot accept any donations of clothing or household items.
