This map provided by the City of Terrace shows the area of the evacuation alert issued by the city yesterday. Brauns Island, which is now under an evacuation alert by the Kitimat-Stikine Regional District, is the bulb-shaped area on the left of the map. (Map courtesy the City of Terrace)

The Kitimat-Stikine Regional District has added Brauns Island, just south of Terrace, to its evacuation alert list as snowmelt continues to raise the level of the Skeena River.

Residents are not yet requested to leave the small island, which is connected by a small bridge to Terrace, but should prepare to leave on very short notice.

This evacuation alert follows ones issued yesterday for north Usk and south Usk and New Remo and Old Remo.

Evacuation orders for New Remo and Old Remo followed quickly.

The City of Terrace has also issued an evacuation alert for the western portion of Graham Ave. and connecting streets on the southide.
