Local residents showed up at three locations Dec. 10 to load non-perishable food items into emergency services vehicles for the 12th annual Cram the Cruiser event.

Sponsored by the Terrace RCMP detachment, five emergency services vehicles at three locations were loaded with food and $2,010 collected in cash and gift cards for distribution to the Salvation Army, the Terrace Churches Food Bank and Ksan Place.

RCMP officers and family members, RCMP detachment civilian employees and provincial sheriffs accepted the food and donations at Safeway, Save-On-Foods and the Real Canadian Wholesale Club.

“The community of Terrace showed itself to be overwhelmingly generous once again,” said Terrace RCMP Cst. Kelly Cates of the results.

Paul Moravec from the Terrace Churches Food Bank said enough food was collected to satisfy the needs of the more than 300 people who come to the food bank each week for two weeks.

“These generous donations will really help make the Ksan Place Christmas special food share very special,” added Peggy Julseth from Ksan Place.
