Coast Mountains School District 82 (CMSD82) is looking for input on a proposed change that it says would allow more flexibility to balance student enrolment at the Grade 3 and Grade 4 level for Thornhill Primary and Thornhill Elementary schools.

If approved, the plan would give the school district the ability to expand Thornhill Primary School to include Grade 4, and have Thornhill Elementary School include Grades 3 to 6, depending on yearly enrolment numbers.

Currently, the schools serve Kindergarten to Grade 3 and Grades 4 to 6 respectively.

Members of the public wishing to provide their thoughts on the matter can fill out an online survey through a link on the CMSD82 website until Mar. 18. The school district consulted with staff on Feb. 17, and will be holding a similar session with the schools’ parent advisory councils this evening.

On Thursday (Feb. 24), CMSD82 is hosting a virtual public consultation session via Zoom. Those interested can access the meeting link on the CMSD82 website, or watch the session on its YouTube channel.
