Terrace has announced the appointment of Chad Cooper as the new fire chief for the Terrace Fire Department. The move comes as the former chief, John Klie, retires after a 17-year tenure.

Cooper officially took the helm on June 14, bringing with him a robust 17-year background in fire services. He is stepping into his new role after spending the last eight years as a chief officer in other cities.

Cooper arrives in Terrace from his previous role as the deputy fire chief at Prince Rupert Fire Rescue, a position he has held since 2019. Before that, he was the fire chief for the city of Flin Flon, Manitoba.

Terrace Mayor Sean Bujtas welcomed the new chief and thanked the outgoing fire chief John Klie for his dedicated service to the community.

“We are looking forward to working with Chief Cooper in the coming years,” Mayor Bujtas said.
