The City of Terrace’s lawn sprinkling ban is remaining until wet and cooler weather returns. And its bylaw officers have been patrolling the streets looking for those breaking the ban.

“Most of the work done by our bylaw enforcement team has been in informing residents and businesses of the lawn sprinkling ban and providing warnings,” said city communications official Kate Lautens.

“We have only handed out a couple of fines for non-compliance so far.”

The city banned the use of sprinklers in early summer so as to ensure there was enough water in case of a fire and has now extended it until the weather cools and there’s more rain.

Residents can still water flowers, shrubs and vegetable gardens by hand.
