TERRACE CITY council meetings are now carried over the Internet.

TERRACE city council meetings can now be viewed on your computer via the Internet.

Technicians have been quietly testing the equipment the city purchased and then installed and the ability to watch webcasts is now ready for a formal introduction.

That means local observers of the political scene can discover how issues develop and how existing council members comment on those issues leading up to this fall's municipal elections.

One of those issues, the extent of city support for My Mountain Co-op's efforts to purchase the Shames Mountain ski facility, comes up at council again tonight.

One camera focusses on the council table while another will broadcast the images and words of those making presentations.

Generally speaking, council meetings start at 7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of every month.

Also available for viewing is footage of past council meetings.

To reach the City of Terrace webcasting site, go to The Terrace Standard homepage and click on the announcement spot containing the City of Terrace logo and the words “click here to watch Terrace City Council meetings.”
