To the editor,
I’d like to express my thanks to The Terrace Standard for publishing John Krisinger’s letter [“Simple scientist” questions “hot potato” abortion issue] September 14th. We need respectful discussion about abortion in this country. Contrary to what many believe, it is not a settled issue.

Why, for example, is the foetus a baby when it is wanted and a product of conception when it’s not? Science tells us that the pre-born are human beings, right from conception. But we have allowed emotion to dictate which pre-born humans will be allowed to live and which will not. Many who choose abortion do so because of difficult circumstances. But these circumstances can be overcome when mothers reach out for help.
Many Canadian organizations compassionately support women throughout their pregnancy journeys in practical ways, both before and after birth. They also care for women who experience abortion regret. I strongly encourage any who are struggling with an unplanned pregnancy to seek solutions which are life-giving.
