Wilfred was born on Kitselas Indian Reserve #4 Endedoon. To Edward Bennett & Lucy Spalding Bennett.
After both of Dad's parents perished in a boating accident 1947 at the mouth of the Skeena River. Dad and his brothers/ sister's were sent off to residential school in Alert Bay Dad's two sister where sent to Indian boarding schools.
Dad spent the next ten years attending St. Micheal's after leaving St. Micheal's, Dad made his way to Kitkatla where Dad met our Mother Audrey Innes Bennett.
They had Robert (Bud) Carolyn Cootes Bennett, deceased, Glenn, Frances Wright, Sidney (Joey) Deceased/Sharon Low, Wilfred Jr. (Web) Deceased, Sharon, Rocklyn Nabess.
Dad and Mom decided it was time to move back to his community of Kitselas in 1971 where they made a home for their family where to this day mom resides. Dad was active in the commercial fishing industry. Dad owned his own boat the PE 232. Dad fished for salmon, Herring, Halibut until his passing.
Dad was also active in his community of Kitselas where he served as an elected council member well over thirty years. Dad was also active in the logging industry.
Dad leaves behind his wife Audrey of sixty years. Dad also loved everyone of his grandchildren; Jessica, Nichole, Renée, Cyril Joseph Bennett Nabess, Amanda/Alvin Clayton Jr. (Smurf) Kyle. Andrea, Alanna/James, Randi Mae/William, Kelsey/Charles, Joseph, Joshua, predeceased: Marina Bennett, James Alexander, Great Grandchildren; Sydney, Peter, Sloane, Deanna, Korey Mae, Haven, Copper.
Dad's family & Audrey would like to thank the Doctors, Nurse's & ICU staff for the care and compassion shown to Wilfred when he was a patient at Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace, B.C.
Audrey Bennett & family wish to acknowledge & thank the following: Kitselas, Kitsumkalum, Gitxaala, First Nation's, St. Mathews Anglican Church. If we miss anyone it wasn't intentional. There will be a headstone feast later in the year for Wilfred & Web.
Dad will be forever missed & in our hearts.
