Veritas principal Dave Crawley got into a 'sticky' situation for a school fundraiser for Relay for Life May 24.
Students paid for strips of duct tape – $1 for half a metre and $2 for one metre – to put across Crawley as he stood on a stool next to the gym wall to finish off the day that Friday.
They first watched a video about Relay for Life in the gym, then returned to their classrooms where they were called class by class to return to the gym and take turns adding their piece, or pieces, of duct tape to Crawley.
The student who bought the most duct tape was Grade 7 student Theresa Moolman, who bought 151 metres.
Nine rolls of duct tape later, Crawley was stuck to the wall and several students pulled out the stool under his feet and, as the students cheered, they watched him hang from the wall for several minutes before the tape let go.
The total amount raised was $1,067 and several Grade 7 students continued to take pledges afterward.
Team Veritas will be at a booth at the Relay for Life this Saturday, June 1 at Skeena Middle School.
The relay goes from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
