Terrace is stepping up to help raise money for people affected by the Telegraph Creek wildfires.
The Terrace Professional Firefighters, in partnership with the mayor, council and Mr. Mikes, will be serving up burgers for $5 each outside of the Terrace Fire Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 16.
The goal is to sell as many burgers as possible to help those in need, with organizers accepting donations on site if people want to contribute more.
“Everyone who lives in rural communities understands what community means and helping each other out,” said Jeff Minhinnick, president of the local firefighters union 2685.
“If this situation was reversed and we were in need, I can guarantee you that those communities would step up and help us out.”
The department’s new fire engine will also be on display for people to check out while they grab lunch off the grill.
All proceeds will go directly to those affected by the Telegraph Creek wildfires.
