Crowds and families are gathered to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day at George Little Park today.
The event kicked off at 1 p.m. with a welcome prayer and speeches, and the celebration continues this afternoon with Gitsegukla dancers and other live music.
Stl’atl’imx singer/songwriter George Leech, from Lillooet, B.C., is on stage at 6 p.m. to wrap up the performances.
Known for his blusey roots and latter integrations of classic rock, R&B and soul balladry, Leach is the recipient of many awards in his career, including a 2014 Juno for Aboriginal Album of the Year with Surrender.
