THE KSAN Society has started a campaign to collect used footwear in good condition for those who end up at its emergency shelter.
The “Walk a Mile In My Shoes” campaign is part of National Homelessness Awareness Week Oct. 10-16.
Socks and outdoor clothing are also appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at the Ksan office, 4838 Lazelle Ave., or at the shelter, 2812 Hall.
The Terrace Rod and Gun Club is also assisting with the collection of items.
The shelter is also hosting a Thanksgiving meal Sunday afternoon.
"We are hoping local businesses, church groups, community organizations and government employees will step up to this cause and challenge each other to donate generously," says Marianne Brorup Weston from the society.
"Of most urgent need is items for teenage boys and men, but the faces of homelessness are countless – we will accept donations for anyone and make sure they are distributed to those in need," she added.
