Returning this year after its COVID-19 induced hiatus, the Terrace Regional Historical Society is once again hosting its Heritage Day event.
Taking place Saturday, Feb. 25 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sportsplex banquet room, the historical society will be providing refreshments, music, and a short ceremony. Entrance to the event is free for everyone, and all are welcome.
“Personally, I’m excited about all of the displays,” said Elaine Temple, organizer and member of the historical society’s board of directors.
“People bring in their personal treasures. One lady in particular, she’s in her 80s, and she’s bringing in toys that she had as a child, and some of her mother’s toys.”
A short ceremony will be taking place at 1:30 p.m. to introduce several local dignitaries. This will include the mayor and council, as well as representatives from the Legion, the Girl Guides and the Cadets.
“People are excited about having it again,” said Temple. “They can get together and remember the olden days, but we also want to include young people too. I’ve reached out to a few schools, trying to see if we could get some young people involved as well.”
