THE 2013 Northwest Community College graduates from various programs and campuses attended convocation ceremony on May 16 with their relatives and friends present for the celebration.

Convocation was kicked off by master of ceremonies Beverly Moore-Garcia, vice-president of education, followed by the processional of the graduating class to a musical arrangement by Jose Coosemans.

A welcome to Kitsumkalum traditional territory and blessing came from matriarch Vera Dudoward, followed by the singing of O Canada by Graeme Linton.

Mayor Dave Pernarowski gave the greetings from the city of Terrace, followed by a keynote address by president and CEO of the college Dr. Denise Henning.

Carisa Devost, social service worker certificate recipient, gave the student address and presentation of certificates was done by Deb Stave, registrar and director of institutional research before Moore-Garcia gave closing remarks.

The graduation included students from all its campuses and programs: applied business technology, applied coastal ecology, business administration program, early childhood education, first nations fine arts, health care assistant, information and communications technology, professional cooking, social service worker, university credit and workplace skills training.

Students came from the Nass Valley, Prince Rupert and even Haida Gwaii for the ceremony.
