THE HAPPY Gang Centre is getting closer to finishing its renovations after a long fundraising drive.

With the presentation of a cheque from the Bank of Montreal March 2, the centre nearly has all of the $90,000 needed to complete renovations on the basement floor and the installation of an elevator to make it easier for seniors to get downstairs to the basement with or without items like tables and chairs.

Bank manager Colleen Mackie presented a cheque for $2,500 from the bank's employee charitable foundation to Susan Broughton, who's been spearheading the fundraising for the centre renovations.

The elevator is expected to be installed in April and be ready for use by the end of the month, said Broughton.
