The Skeena mall has a new edition for the golden-agers coming on April 3, as the new seniors corner is set to open.
The corner is a combined effort of Skeena Valley Seniors, Terrace Hospice and Helping Hands. The three non-profits will collaborate to bring more services and awareness to the seniors community in Terrace.
“Many of these services are senior-focused but are by no means only for seniors,” a representative of seniors corner said in a statement.
Terrace Hospice will provide resources on their Nav-CARE, caregiving and grief programs. Nav-CARE is a free volunteer navigation program that supports people with declining health to live independently at home for as long as possible.
The hospice will also showcase its “AssistList,” a buy-and-sell space for equipment to assist those in need with more complex medical equipment.
Skeena Valley Seniors will provide information on resources from varying agencies to help seniors find the services they need to live more comfortably.
“We encourage volunteerism and membership in our organizations and we hope that as we work together we can make our community a more caring and supportive place to live,” the representative said.
Seniors corner is looking for gently used items for donation, which can be dropped off at the corner starting April 3.
“Please stop by and say hi, or help out. Everyone is welcome.”
