BACKGROUND:

Canadian National Railway Co. closed down significant parts of its rail network across the country due to ongoing blockades by anti-pipeline protesters.

Protesters have been blocking the tracks in opposition to the Coastal GasLink natural energy project since Feb. 9.

There are now dozens of demonstrations happening across Canada in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en First Nation and its hereditary chiefs.
