A woman being sought Wednesday, May 12, for using a knife during a robbery at a local liquor store has been described as five feet, six inches tall and wearing a black hoodie.

And from a video of the incident obtained by The Northern Sentinel, because the woman was wearing a mask, her full face could not be described. The mask was worn inside out but had orange and black on it.

She does have brown hair and green eyes.

The woman being sought by police entered Wee Geordies Liquor Store at 3:30 p.m., at first grabbing a bottle of liquor and then producing a knife and demanding money.

It was the second incident that day in which a knife-wielding suspect robbed a local business.

The first incident took place at Tony’s Corner Store at 5:45 a.m. when a man dressed in black demanded money from store manager Amirit Singh.

Singh said he opened the register without hesitation and gave him the corner store’s morning cash float.

“I thought he was going to the freezer when I saw him in the corner of my eye but when I turned and saw his knife I realized he wasn’t there to get a drink.”

Singh was unable to provide a description of the man as he was solely focused on getting him out of the store as soon as possible.

“I saw his eyes a little bit but it’s hard to focus on what the guy looked like when he’s got a big knife in his hands.”

When the perpetrator walked to the side of the cashier desk, he took off a backpack he was carrying and demanded Singh fill the bag with all the money in the cash register.

Unfazed by the incident, Singh said he finished his shift and returned to work the following day, working the same morning shift.

“After I talked to the police I went home for my break, I usually take it at 9 a.m. but I decided to take it at 8 a.m., […] we had a big order in the back so I had to take care of that.”

When asked if he was worried about any future robbery’s, Singh said he isn’t too worried about the situation happening again because he believes the robbery is out of character compared to the people that reside in Kitimat.

Kitimat RCMP, in a brief release the day of the robberies, said they believe the incidents are related.

Witnesses or persons who were in the area at the time of the incidents are requested to contact the Kitimat RCMP at (250) 632-7111 or Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477.
