Terrace sent 45 athletes to compete in the 2018 BC Summer Games in Cowichan from July 20-22 with multiple Terricites bringing home medals from several events.

Eleven softball players from Terrace were members of the Zone 7 U16 softball team that won gold, going 5-0 over the weekend. The North West came back to win their semi-final game against Cariboo North East and the tournament finals against Thompson-Okanagan.

“The momentum we had going into the final after the crazy semi-final win, I think every kid believed we could do it,” said team coach Ryan Praticante.

Terrace’s Emma Buhr brought back home two gold medals and a silver in Equestrian, finishing in first place back-to-back before coming in second on the third day.

The North West Girls Softball team, comprised of five Terrace athletes, came in eighth place this year. This is the first time in eight years that the North West has had a girl’s softball team go to the BC Summer Games.
