The Terrace River Kings continued their winning streak in a tense game against the Kitimat Ice Demon on Oct. 26, succeeding with an 8-6 win.
“A win is a win, it doesn’t matter how we get it,” says Terrace River Kings’ general manager Ross Smith.
In the first period, the Ice Demons pulled ahead 4-1.
During their second period, the Ice Demons battled it out with another goal and the River Kings fought hard for their three shots, bringing it to an uneasy 5-4 against them.
“We played for like three weeks so we were slow getting out of the gate but we got better,” Ross says. “It was a penalty-filled affair out there.”

They managed to score another two goals at the start of third period but their opponent wasn’t going to skate away leisurely, leveling up with another two shots.
With less than five minutes of the period left, hanging on at 7-6, the River Kings put on the mileage to make those final moments matter and shot that winning goal when the Ice Demons left their net unattended for an extra attacker.
Smith says their win will be briefly celebrated as they still have many games to prepare for this upcoming season. With a full player roster now, they’re ready to drill in the practices for a busy game weekend ahead.
The Rivers Kings will face the Kitimat Ice Demons again on Friday, Nov. 8 and play against the Hazelton Wolverines on Saturday, Nov. 9.
In a previous online version and in the print publication, the Terrace Standard reported that the River Kings were ahead 4-1 when it was the Ice Demons leading instead.
