The Skeena Valley Snowmobile club hosted its annual Snowarama Feb. 20 on Sterling Mountain.Despite cloudy skies, 75 people came out to the event, which kicked off in the parking lot of the mountain at 9:30 a.m.Club president Terry Unrau said the event was a success and raised $4,000, which is a significant increase from last year’s $3,000.Unrau said everyone was more than generous, either raising money through pledges or stopping at the registration stand to donate. All money raised will be going to the BC Lions Club.Once up the mountain, snowmobilers were treated to hamburgers and hot dogs at the first cabin. From there, they were free to sled where they liked although dense fog hampered visibility. At the end of the event, the BC Lions club provided everyone with chili and hot chocolate.Unrau was also pleased to see sledders from Kitimat at the event.“It was a great event,” Unrau said, adding Snowarama is set to happen next year, as it has every year since 1978.
